The Rise & Fall of House Rihanna

I adore the Savage X Fenty fashions shows in Amazon Prime, especially in December when I'm cozy. Well, how the empires have come to the light of day & they are not holding up under the slightest scrutiny. The U.S. government & Diddy's sins against his artists are both a blog each for another day, but needed a brief shout out for their crimes against humanity. Brave Cassie is an angel for how she has handled her trauma & exceedingly intelligent for how she dealt her cards. The people across many American cities, including Philadelphia, have been protesting for an immediate ceasefire.
But I'm here to talk about Rihanna and the disappointment in how she handles business. I'm sure that she does not see the everyday details of how savage x Fenty has been run, but surely she's smart enough to understand the work that gets done behind the scenes in the dirty shadows. It is likely that no one with that much wealth has control over how darkness spreads amongst an organization. I know the slight downfall of celebrity culture has come from the pandemic with everyone reassessing how they spend their time. Fewer people spend time obsessing over celebrities.
I spend significantly less time connecting to pop culture, particularly white-centric mainstream culture. But there are certain celebrities that go beyond obsession. They have a feeling that they provide when you think of them & their journey motivates you & your own journey. Rihanna has been that girl since I was in high school. Her accent, her fashion, her principles & self-expression. I wanted to grow up & exude confidence & power the way she did. But I can't look at her in the same light & respect her as an artist & creator when you don't know if your employees have poor working conditions.
When you are passionate about your art, you need to be there at every single step & know every single person at least since some capacity who is working on your art. Savage x Fenty is Rihanna's art & she didn't care for it the way a true artist does with her hands in every single pot checking everything. I expect accountability from the celebrities I choose to spend my time & money on, especially now. It would be easier to ignore what these clothing manufacturers do & shop there anyway. But standing on principle means going against those who turn their backs on basic human ethics.
